PRESIDENT’S BLOG: FEBRUARY 2017

Timothy F. Harley, President

The early New Year has provided a range of weather here in our beautiful county seat of Indiana, PA. In the past week we have had temperatures in the 60 degree range and many days of regular old windy, cold and snowy days.

We had good visitation over the holidays, with many guests making return visits to see our annual Holiday decorations and the many Stewart themed trees.

Joy Behr and some great volunteers have helped us get the decorations stowed for another season; THANKS LADIES!

As a new semester begins at IUP, we welcome our work-study students back and are pleased to announce that we have hired, on a part-time basis, our graduate assistant from last semester, Robert Tucker. Welcome Robert!

I have had a good visit with Harold Wood, who tells me the restoration work on the Stewart family plane is coming along well. We have posted some new photos on the museum Face Book page.

Our anticipated new DVD on Stewart is just about finished and we expect it to be shipped to all those who have placed orders, before the end of February. This is a great film short that shares very effectively, the Stewart legacy of responsibility and service. Plan on making it part of your DVD library or donating copies to your local schools and service organizations.

We are busy working to bring a great Harvey Award to our community, and hope to make an announcement in the near future. As 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of James Stewart’s passing, we hope to commemorate this year in a number of special ways.

We are pleased to have Gerard Thomchick become our new Chairman and Tim Kronenwetter our new Treasurer, and we are happy to welcome Pauline Simms back to our board. Please join with us in whatever ways possible to make 2017 a stellar year for the “Jimmy.”

As ever,

Thanks for listening,

Tim
